Recent Exhibitions:

I caught the "Walking in My Mind" exhibition at the Hayward Gallery quite recently and I was incredibly inspired by the whole experience. The diverse collection of artists, from all over the world, had depicted these prodigious 'mindscapes' which blurred the boundaries between reality and imagination. In actual fact these artists were physically inviting strangers to pick apart their thoughts and come face to face with what drives them.

Artists= Charles Avery, Thomas Hirschhorn, Yayoi Kusama, Bo Christian Larsson, Mark Manders, Yoshitomo Nara, Jason Rhoades, Pipilotti Rist, Chiharu Shiota and Keith Tyson

I was particularly drawn to the work by Japanese sculptor, painter, writer, installation artist and performance artist Yayoi Kusama. Kusama has, from a young age experienced these hallucinations which causes her to paint polka dots. These dots are a central focus which is seen throughout her work. Yayoi Kusama portrays herself as a 'd
ot lost among a million other dots', which I think describes us all.
She said of her work, "My artwork is an expression of my life, particularly of my mental disease... My art originates from hallucinations only I can see. I translate the hallucinations and obsessional images that plague me into sculptures and paintings."
